I was browsing the Hong Kong Main Library this morning and discovered these beautiful sketches by Gianfranco Ferre: The Architect of Fashion.

“He started his own company Baila in 1974  and launched his signature collection for women in 1978. His first men’s collection appeared in 1982, followed in 1986 by his first couture collection in Rome.” Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia.

Ferré became Stylistic Director of Christian Dior in Paris in 1989. He ended his contract with Dior in 1996 and launched his own Label in 1997.

I am mesmerised by his simple and beautiful sketching style and was interested to learn that he studied architecture, yet began his fashion career just one year after his graduation.
