The Giant Yellow Duckie
Rubber Duck is a giant floating sculpture designed by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. On the 25th May 2013 I had the opportunity to see the giant with Daphne, and I was totally spellbound by the mystery of it all. According to Wikipedia the Hong Kong version measures (14×15×16.5) meters (46×49×54 ft.). The Rubber Duck appeared in Taiwan, Azerbaijan, China, USA, Australia, Belgium, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil and France.
“Florentijn Hofman entertains the world with a tour named “Spreading joy around the world” established in 2007. His aim is to recall everyone’s childhood memories by exhibiting the duck in 14 cities, starting in his own Amsterdam, Netherlands. The giant rubber duck is constructed with more than 200 pieces of PVC. There is an opening at the back of the body so that architecture staff can do a body check of the rubber duck periodically. There is also an electric fan in its body so that it can be inflated at any time, in either good or bad weather” Wikipedia Encyclopedia.
