Free-Hand Sketching

June 30, 2010

Sketching brings our world to life in a special way. It is a process where ideas from our perception of the 3D world transcribes itself on to a 2D medium. Free-hand sketching is vital in the process of architectural design. Computer Aided Design software can not compete with the personal subtleties of sketching or drawing by hand. CAD renderings by various architects lack the “signature” of its designer. A free-hand sketch is a personal expression at a specific time, of a specific place, illustrating the sketcher’s specific state of mind.
