Sketching Journey Tips: Part 6
The process continues.
Background sketched as “objects” gives the perception of depth to your composition. These can be the outline of trees, people, or undulating terrain. Keep away from details in background objects. In this sketch of Sha Tau Kok promenade in Hong Kong, the leaves in the trees are detailed, while the building and the hill in the background are not. In my book, A Personal Journey Through Sketching: The Sketcher’s Art you will see how this technique works well in complex sketches.
