Virtual Surface

Here’s a sketch where I use what I refer to as “simple lines” to create a virtual surface. In this example the  wall in the Nave of Le Corbusier’s Dominican Monastery of La Tourette: parallel lines vanishing towards the horizon. Drawing the lines to delineate the ceiling and the floor quickly “create” the surface and volume of the “space”.
